A1: Noir Game
Game #1 - Pacman
Game #2 - Cuphead
Pacman was and still is one of maybe even the most recognisable classic arcade games its game play is simple yet addicting as Pacman is designed in a way where it has plenty of re playable value as there is a large amount of levels most players wont ever get to Pacmans best feature in my opinion is the power up which lets you eat the ghosts that haunt you for the entire game there is only a limited amount of them with the power up only having a limited effect so you have to be careful on when to pick them up my only issue with the game is that the game can be frustrating at times as you may get stuck and surrounded by ghosts and since in pacman you only have 3 lives you can only get hit 3 times.
there doesn't seem to be a target audience for cuphead but considering the difficulty of the game its most likely for more advanced players
~~mood board on modelling~~
the mood board informed my design as it give me ideas of what to model
i like the barrel design because its very round and the TNT one is good because of the letters being bold
i liked how spiky the cactus was the other two i got just for the general atmosphere. i am making these models as they meet the brief of our western noir theme the level having a western theme also meets the brief
the design of the game is walking around a 3d plane of a makeshift wild west town to find bombs to defuse them this is will be the story of this game

noir games just take film noir tropes and put them into a game like black and white aesthetics and dark themes and a hint of mystery.
- L.A noir
a crime thriller
- max payne
third person shooter
- sin city
a series of neo-noir comics
- limbo
a puzzle platformer with noir themes

what part of this style do you like?
i have no strong opinions about this art style negative or positive however if i had to say something as nice as the black and white clashing may be for the eyes it may also be hard to see for some people.
What parts do you want to replicate in your game?
the contrast of black and white though it may clash with the already present themes so maybe not
How do you plan to achieve this?
by using just black and white with a possibility of a small amount of colour so that it is not overwhelmed by the black and white
Limbo is popular due to the mystery surrounding it this fills players with intrigue and curiosity which gets them wanting to play more another feature that makes Limbo popular is the atmosphere and dark undertones along with a basic colour pallet of black and white.

the team designing the game is fuse, kian, lewis and me each of us with our unique roles
fuse made the trello planning what we were going to do
my first action was to design a cactus in maya based on this pixel art this is what it looks like.
Lewis made a saloon while fuse was planning the next stuff
i used the cube tool to make the base cactus i then extruded it and make it smooth by clicking the 3 key activating the smooth tool then i used the cone tool to make the spikes
i made the left windmill all on my own by using spheres and cubes, the extrude tool and the smooth tool and the second with some assistance from fuse it is still being seen which one will be in game.

the roles for us have been made
so far I have made a fence with just cubes, water tank with cylinders and cones and a sandbag made with a super flat cylinder I made these as I was asked to model decorations. and with all of these I used the smooth and extrude tool
my teammate lewis made this barrel
fuse made all of these objects and modelled them

i improved my cactus and with some help with fuse to texture it i didn't know how to texture beforehand but now i do this is an example of problem solving.
i textured the water tank I made previously on my own I was able to colour this because i learned how to colour
fuse also made the base game and textured some of lewis's stuff

a video link to a trailer for the game fuse made
fuse also put the game on itch.io and did all the coding for the game
steps to get the game
- download the game
- say no to giving money and just take me to downloads
- go to downloads and find the files
- export the files
- find the game in the exported files and play it
my scrum sheets disappeared for some reason so here they are
this is the groups Trello it is the plan of what we were doing i don't have any more screenshots then this but the Trello shows the plan
what I'm going to put under this is models i made that didn't get in the game.
this chair was made with the cube tool, extrude and small uses of insert edge loops for the chair legs.
the table was made exactly the same as the chair but with less use of extrude as a back rest was not necessary.
this one had a cube that was extruded then after i made it tall i extruded it to the left then i moved the face to point downwards and clicked the extrude button again i repeated this for the other side.
i made a cube extruded it then flattened it to make a flat rectangle then i duplicated it then i got a smaller version of that and used it to make the middle squares and duplicated it several times.
Postmortem:
what went well was in this project was me getting better at modelling which made my project better overall and made it easier to do another thing that went well was the speed of which the work was done in like 2 weeks we practically had everything ready for the game.
however for the negatives what went wrong was the stress of having to talk to people i haven't talked to before and work on a project with then 3 seconds after meeting them for the first time also because we finished quickly there were weeks were i was struggling to find work to do. however i never had any issues with modelling
for my final thoughts i believe the project went okay and that i think we will pass.
this is the 3D vehicle sadly it didst get in the game however it was mostly made for modelling practice
